Packer Game!!

Yesterday I experienced my second Packer game ever. It was amazing! I went to one last year and had a blast also, and this game was no let down. I know, the Packers lost... but the game was still a great one to see. I went with my mom and my stepdad, who are both very fun people! We left very early yesterday morning, and the drive down went really fast. We talked and laughed, grabbed some breakfast. As we were nearing Green Bay, I could feel the excitment in the truck. We were all chomping at the bit to get there. The traffic in was not bad at all, and we quickly found a spot near Stadium View. As we scrambled in our extra layers and snow boots, we were all saying: "Let's go! I need a beer!" to one another.
Stadium View is a bar that is about 2 blocks away from the field, and the wide windows allows for the perfect view of Lambeau. The whole place was packed with people drinking beer and bloody marys, and it looked like a green and gold explosion. Everybody was a psyched as we were to be there.
It was 16 degrees during the game. We all staying relatively warm, considering the temperature. And with people packed in all around you, its not too bad. We had a great view of the field too. Everyone around us was cool, and we were all jumping up and down, screaming, and singing with the music.
After the game, we decided to beat the traffic and sit down and eat. We ate at the Brett Favre Steakhouse. It was absolutely delicious! I tried a shrimp cocktail for the first time and loved it! But one thing for sure is that it is not cheap. Although you do get what you pay for in the great food and wonderful service. Our server actually remembered my mom and stepdad from the last time they were there, and that made the experience even more enoyable.
But, our plan kind of backfired. By the time we got on the road, the traffic was backed up as ever, and the snow was flying in sheets of white. It took us 5 hours to get home, but I'm not going to lie, I slept a lot of the way.
Even though the Pack did lose at the very end, the game was still a great one! More than anything, we had a great time together, and it will be a time to never forget!

It's Been a Rough Month

So, in the past month, my boyfriend has been having seizures. This is one of the most terrifying things anyone could ever experience, in my opinion. Oddly, he has been having one a week for the past month. Two have been in his sleep, one has been in class here at TC, and the other was when we were at home. The doctors don't really have any explanation except that he may have epilepsy or just a seizure disorder. Although he was put on medication a week and a half ago, this didn't stop him from having one in his sleep on saturday night. It woke me up, and after seeing the last one he had, I was a little calmer, though really scared. This led us to spend three hours in the emergency room in the middle of the night. I know how it makes me feel, but I can't imagine what he is feeling. He's really bummed about not being able to drive anymore, and hates the fact that there's "something wrong" with him. But, with a few more doctors appointments, hopefully we can get this all figured out. I just know that it is really scary to see someone you love losing control of himself and knowing that you can't do a thing about it.
On a lighter note, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I ate lots of food and saw some family I haven't seen for a few years, so it was a very enjoyable holiday for me. It was a stressful event for my mom having 20 people in her house, so I tried to help out as much as possible. I am not a cook by any means, but I did some of the prep work and made an awesome sangria from scratch as our holiday cocktail. Everbody had a good time and ate great food, so all in all, I think we were a hit.
As the semester comes to a close, I am reminded that I still have to register for spring classes. I am not sure who my academic advisor is, but I think I have to find out in order to register. But, I am definitely ready for a couple weeks off from school. I need to get back to work full time and get caught up with bills and such. With so much going on, with school and the hospital visits, I got kind of behind. Well, I should get back to working on some homework...

Can I Get A Little Sunshine?

I have lived in Wisconsin for all of my 21 years, and I am used to this weather. I am used to getting snowed in, and used to the freezing cold. But the one thing that will always continue to get me down is this gloomy weather! I can handle the snow and cold just as well as any other Wisconsinite, but I just want a little sunshine! Is that too much to ask?! And the sky, what are you doing? Are you just going to continue to drizzle a little, without letting one snowflake fall? Well, I would just like it to make up it's mind, and soon!
This weather has me wanting to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a good book and not leave for days, well except to eat maybe. I just feel gloomy like the weather and sky outside. I guess it is a good thing that I have a pretty busy life, otherwise I am pretty sure that is where I would spend all of my time. Then, I would feel like a bum.
On another note, where I am not just complaining, I am really excited about my paper for the Nobel Prize winner. At first I had a really hard time finding information about my winner, Shirin Ebadi, but just today I hit the jackpot of info on her. I am really excited to sit down with all of my articles and put all of that into my essay. Hopefully, I will get over my three pages, which I am sure I will! There is just so much good stuff on her, I want to cram it all in there! Well, I hope everyone is having as much fun with this as I am.
Until next time... Have a good week!

Another Crazy Week

So, this past week has been not that fun. I have been babysitting morning and night for my brother and sister-in-law. I love my nephews more than anything, believe me, but I have no idea how they do it. With three boys running around their apartment, with the oldest being 5 and the youngest being 2, I really don't know how they do it. My brother has been working overtime this week, and what do you know, my sister-in-law gets an infection in her mouth. She has been in and out of the dentist, rushed to the E.R., and she looks as if she has a baseball in the side of her mouth. I feel so bad for her, and nobody would work for her, so she had to work all week long. I really love to help out, but man those boys tire me out. So, between baby sitting in the mornings, and making it to what classes I can in the day, and working at night, I would like to lay down and sleep for days.
But, one thing that is really good is that I did really well on all of my midterms, so that puts a smile on my face. I am doing well in my classes that I know my grade in, and it is November and still 70 degrees!! So, after my stressful week, this brightens me a little bit.
I still can't believe how fast this semester is going! Maybe it just seems fast with all of the other stuff to deal with, but either way I am glad. Hey, maybe it will stay 70 out for a while longer, because I could definitely do without the snow.
I will post again soon, should I remember. I always seem to forget about this, I wonder if I am the only one...

Work situation

So it is getting to be midterm, and it seems like it flew by very fast. Before I even knew it, the leaves were all around in my yard that had fallen, and I am thinking, I am so glad I don't have to rake and bag all of this as I did when I was young. One of my favorite things to do since I moved out was go and buy all of the best candy I loved when I was growing up and greet all the little kids in their cute costumes. My first two apartments were in great locations and I had lots of kids coming by. My new apartment is up on a hill away from the main street, so I am afraid I won't get to hand out candy as I look forward to so much. But, I think instead I will just take my three nephews trick-or-treating. My oldest nephew, Patrick, just had surgery on his arm, so we are having a hard time figuring out what type of costume to put him in. If he had it his way, he would go as one of the Transformers, he loves that movie! Or maybe Lightening McQueen from Cars. We will think of something.
So, there is something I have to share, because I find it amusing and ridiculous all at the same time. One of my coworkers recently split with her husband. This event started an every night drinking binge for her, which ultimately led to her losing her other job, which was a great job to have, and now she is just stuck with Ardie's. She had just found an apartment, and had to borrow a bunch of money to afford it. So within the past week she has been going around asking everyone for hours because she needs the money really bad. She did pick up a few shifts. So when she asked me about any shifts I was willing to give up, and told her she could work my Sunday, she would get great tips and it is a long day that will look good on her paycheck. She looked at me like I was insane, and said to me: "That's my drinking day!" It was almost as if I had offended her by even suggesting that. So, when she realized yesterday that she was still $100 short for rent, she started in on me again about how she needs hours. I was just thinking, are you joking? I couldn't believe it. Not only do I have rent and bills to pay too, but I had offered her the best shift she could have asked for. Maybe I am being insensitive to her drinking day, but I think she needs to get her stuff together before I am willing to help her out again. I don't know, if anyone has any thoughts on this, or if I am being mean and insensitive, let me know.

Ugly Betty

I have to write a small post to celebrate the beginning of the 3rd season of Ugly Betty. I don't know if everyone is as hooked on that show as I am, but I can't get enough of it.
In the season opener, Betty returns to work after turing down Henry's marriage proposal, and Gio inviting her to Rome. She decided to go on a vacation herself, and she went to the Grand Canyon, and San Fransisco, and many other places trying to find herself. She returns to New Yord City to a new job, a new apartment, and an old high school bully (played by Lindsay Lohan).
I love this show because Betty is always so optimistic and after being pushed down all her life, she always has the strength to get back up.

Long Week

So this week has been very eventful. First off, I am very upset at the loss of the Packers to the Cowboys. I knew it was going to be a tough game, but I had my hopes. My week started out pretty crazy. After night class on Monday, I went home and worked on my speech until 12:30 am. Then on Tuesday, I slept right through my alarm going off, and got a late start. But, to make everything better, my speech went great. It was smooth, and I didn't forget anything. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders to have that out of the way. Wednesday, I went up to Rochester with my mom and stepdad to visit my nephew, Patrick. When Patrick was born, one of the bones in his lower right arm was bowed. So he had to have surgery. Patrick is only 5, and to see him laying there, tiny in this huge hospital bed, broke my heart. But he was a trooper. He is doing great, and they say he can come home today if he is eating and sleeping normally. But, I don't know, I think he likes laying in bed all day and watching movies and eating popcicles.
This weekend is going to be another house-sitting weekend for me. My friend Emily is going out of town and she needs someone to cat-sit. Her cat, Satchmo, is a sweetheart, and I am more than willing to help out a friend.
This is going to be another long week in the life of Nikki, so I had better get back to it.
