I have to write a small post to celebrate the beginning of the 3rd season of Ugly Betty. I don't know if everyone is as hooked on that show as I am, but I can't get enough of it. In the season opener, Betty returns to work after turing down Henry's marriage proposal, and Gio inviting her to Rome. She decided to go on a vacation herself, and she went to the Grand Canyon, and San Fransisco, and many other places trying to find herself. She returns to New Yord City to a new job, a new apartment, and an old high school bully (played by Lindsay Lohan). I love this show because Betty is always so optimistic and after being pushed down all her life, she always has the strength to get back up.
So this week has been very eventful. First off, I am very upset at the loss of the Packers to the Cowboys. I knew it was going to be a tough game, but I had my hopes. My week started out pretty crazy. After night class on Monday, I went home and worked on my speech until 12:30 am. Then on Tuesday, I slept right through my alarm going off, and got a late start. But, to make everything better, my speech went great. It was smooth, and I didn't forget anything. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders to have that out of the way. Wednesday, I went up to Rochester with my mom and stepdad to visit my nephew, Patrick. When Patrick was born, one of the bones in his lower right arm was bowed. So he had to have surgery. Patrick is only 5, and to see him laying there, tiny in this huge hospital bed, broke my heart. But he was a trooper. He is doing great, and they say he can come home today if he is eating and sleeping normally. But, I don't know, I think he likes laying in bed all day and watching movies and eating popcicles. This weekend is going to be another house-sitting weekend for me. My friend Emily is going out of town and she needs someone to cat-sit. Her cat, Satchmo, is a sweetheart, and I am more than willing to help out a friend. This is going to be another long week in the life of Nikki, so I had better get back to it.
Hello everyone. I hope you all are enjoying your first weeks back at school, I know I am, and I know I am a dork. I wanted to get blogging earlier, but work and school have become a balancing act for me. Just to give you an idea: I work monday morning and have class monday night, tuesdays I have class from 10 in the morning to 8 at night, wednesdays I get to sleep in a little bit, then I have class and then go straight to work, thursdays I have class at 10 in the morning again and then go straight to work when I get done at 2:30. Then I work all weekend long and try to squeeze in time with my family. I live with my boyfriend and my brother, so its nice to come home and see them when I get done with my long day. My boyfriend also goes to TC and he works here too with the media guys, so if something goes wrong with the projector or the computers, he's your guy. One of the things I firmly believe in is that everybody should be a server or a bartender in their lifetime. I waitress and bartend, and have been doing so for about 3 and a half years, and you know when you are waiting on a table that has never had to serve someone in their entire life. One of my favorite things (being just a little sarcastic) is when I'm behind the bar and customers want to bang their glasses on the bar or shout "hey you" at you. It just seems to me that politeness goes out the window because you are technically their "server." I am sure a lot of you have served before, and can relate to what I am talking about. So, I wanted to get my blogging in before I have to go to work after class today, because when I get home tonight, I just may be in not a very good mood. One really nice thing about this weekend is that I get to stay at my parents (since they get to go to the Packer/Cowboy game... they are so lucky!) to dog and Ray sit. I miss the dogs so much! My dog, Reggie, is a black lab who is getting up there in years, so I treasure any time I get to spend with him. The other two dogs are Tonka and Moose (and his name fits him) who are red labs. They are young and wild and I love it. I am looking forward to sleeping at night with 3 dogs on the bed with me, I miss that the most. Ray is my stepdads dad (my step grandpa?) and he stays with my parents since he is not doing well. It will be a great weekend I think, one I am greatly looking forward to.Well, I think I have gabbed on for a long time now. Have a great week and weekend everyone!
Hey there everyone! This is a new experience for me, and I'm thinking this is going to be fun. I'm not one hundred percent sure what I am supposed to be writing here, but I guess I'm just going to wing it.
Starting back at school this year was kind of exciting for me, however geeky that may sound. I took last semester off, so finding the motivation to come back and finish my associates degree was a task. I just got used to working full time, so tyring to find the time to squueze in school seemed to be the hardest thing. After this semester, I'll just have one more year to go. I know it goes by fast, but looking ahead to it makes it seem like a lifetime. One of the things I want to share, and the reasoning behind my title, is my relationship with my cat, Keely. She is the weirdest feline you will ever meet. When I first moved out on my own, the apartment I was living in allowed animals, but no dogs. Growing up, my family has always owned multiple dogs, and I loved it, thus making me a huge dog lover. So, being accustomed to having animals around, I decided I would try owning a cat. When I picked Keely out she was just a kitten, with this tiny little body and head, but these huge ears. We immediatly fell in love and have been together ever since. One of the things that makes Keely so special to me, is that I firmly believe she knew I was a dog person, and she became the closest to that she could come. Ever since she was a kitten, and she is about 2 years old now, we have spent many days and nights playing fetch with my hair ponytails. She loves them, she goes crazy over them. When I am home, whether I am doing homework, reading, writing, or watching television, you can be sure I am playing fetch with my cat. She even knows where I keep my hair ties, in a bag on the very top shelf in my bathroom. Even more, she is a drooler. She loves to snuggle in my hair and get love, all the while she is drooling like crazy. She is the most lovable and amiable cat you can ask for, even though she is a little odd. Well, I think I have talked enough about my special cat. Until I need to do this again...
